IMSI or Intracytoplasmic Injection of Morphologically injected Sperm is the technique in which sperms from the males are examine under a very high magnification.
The healthiest sperms are selected and with the help of a machine the sperms are individually injected in the egg taken from the women. This method has shown to improve the pregnancy rate where IVF is needed for male factor , unexplained infertility and previous failed ICSI has also been found to be beneficial in cases of recurrent abortions after IVF and ICSI.
While doing ICSI or IMSI the spindle has to be avoided so that it is not damage while injecting the sperm in the egg. This can not be done with ordinary microscope.
